5 Things Every Kid Needs

1. Every kid needs Jesus!

Children are not born innocent, good, or pure; they are born with a sin nature and are in need of salvation through faith in Christ.

2. Every kid needs love.

Children need consistent, uncondemning, forgiving, and gracious love on a daily basis, so that they can recognize true love when they see it in Jesus.

3. Every kid needs to see their Christian role-models fail.

It doesn't do anyone any good to pretend to be perfect because that facade is doomed to be exposed. Children need to see beleivers mess up, ask for forgiveness and repent of their sin, so that they can have practical training on how to handle their own inevitable failures.

4. Every kid needs to be taught to work hard.

Before talk of eating from trees and imminent death, God gave Adam the task of working in the garden (Gen. 2:15). Hard work is essential for life, for provision, for godly disciplines, etc., yet we are seeing honest, hard work being devalued in our world.

5. Every kid needs to be disciplined.

Discipline isn't fun for children, and good, effective discipline is hard work for parents. But when a child learns to respectfully obey his parents and other authorities, he is well acquainted with the kind of obedience God requires of him. Failing to discipline your child ensures that he will have to struggle to learn by himself how to follow God and honor Him with obedience.
